Not Applicable
This course has been recognised by the UK flag state authority – the Maritime and Coastguard Agency - for crews of vessels using hydrogen as a fuel. In the UK, the course is for UK waters, at sea. We would be happy to work with your Flag State Authority to examine suitability for open sea or inland waterways and rivers.
In the UK the course is recognised as an addition to the following requirements:
• STCW Basic and Advanced IGF Fuels Training.
• UK Merchant Navy Training Board [MNTB] Tanker Fire Fighting.
• Sea-time requirements.
• A total of 4 bunkering procedures; three of which are carried out on the Orkney training course. The 4th is carried out on the vessel.
In the UK, the training can be completed before all sea-time requirements and before the 4th bunkering procedure. A course certificate is issued and finally endorsed by the flag state authority MCA on completion of sea-time and bunkering.
Your own flag state authority may have different requirements and we can work with that.
Candidates should hold full STCW certification and have carried out IMO-IGF training to advanced level. Please see Participant's Restrictions above.
Written answers and observation of activities. The course consists of four days of training including a fire fighting exercise and bunkering of hydrogen at a fuel cell facility.
